2025 Virginia House Democratic Caucus Communications DirectorThe Virginia House Democratic Caucus (VHDC) seeks a Communications Director to help promote the overall messaging strategy of the Virginia House Democratic Caucus. The Communications Director will help manage the implementation of the communications strategy of the Caucus. They will work under the direction of the Executive Director to promote the goals of the VHDC to drive messaging & the accomplishments of Democratic Delegates in Virginia. They will engage in strategic communications planning, assisting Delegates & battleground candidates with press inquiries and act as a spokesperson for the VHDC. They will grow and maintain relationships with the local, state and national press while working with relevant stakeholders to continue to communicate on the work being done by Democratic Delegates & Candidates to protect and expand our House Majority.
The start date for this role is ASAP. This is an** in-person** position, based in Richmond, VA, reporting to the Executive Director and** termed through December 31 st, 2025.**

Job Responsibilities:
Work with the Executive Director and caucus leadership to develop and execute a proactive, multi-faceted communications strategy that includes both traditional and new media.
Help oversee the VHDC’s daily press outreach to include but not limited to drafting and editing external communications, social media copy, media clips, talking points, scripts, press releases, and op-eds.
Assist as needed with creation of Caucus + member social media graphics
Maintain a calendar of upcoming events and moments to highlight through social media and other external communications.
Identify rapid response opportunities and work with staff to implement them.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with members of the media in Virginia.
Serve as a point of contact for reporters and members of the media, and speak on the record on behalf of the Caucus.
Assist with press conferences and other earned media events.
Maintain and update media lists.
Drive the Caucus’ earned media efforts through dynamic story pitching.
Support the implementation of the Communications plan to include but not limited to researching members and legislation.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 1-3 paid/unpaid work in political, advocacy, and/or campaign operations and communications.
Previous on-the-record and off-the-record experience with the media.
Strong on-the-record confidence
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including attention to detail and positive attitude.
Excellent personal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
Willingness to travel throughout Virginia, as needed.
Willingness to work extensive hours, including nights and weekends (as needed).

Compensation:
Salary range for this position is $6,500-$8,000 a month, depending on qualifications and experience. All Caucus staff are provided with a full health care benefits package, including vision and dental.

Digital Director
Virginia House Democratic Caucus (VHDC) is seeking an experienced Digital Director to lead a diverse and robust Digital Program. The Digital Director will work at both the caucus level leading email fundraising, social media copywriting and execution, graphic content development, online advertising, etc and at the campaign level helping direct campaign staff on their digital programming. This position will report directly to the Executive Director and will also work with the Finance and Communications teams to accomplish the VHDC strategic goals.The start date for this role is ASAP. Job Responsibilities
Manage and develop an integrated digital campaign plan for the VHDC, including email, social media, and web properties.
Manage the VHDC’s social media accounts while staying current on new social media opportunities and updates to various online platforms
Write, edit, and design content for the VHDC’s email list. Segment lists, test approaches, and use best practices to raise money, mobilize volunteers, and help elect candidates up and down the ticket.
Work closely with all targeted campaigns to ensure implementation of strong digital fundraising and persuasion programs
Work seamlessly with all other departments, Democratic candidates, and local parties to promote VHDC efforts through digital design
Track and analyze digital data.

Minimum Qualifications
2-3 years of relevant experience working for an electoral campaign, advocacy organization, or firm, with at least one year running digital campaigns
Excellent persuasive writing skills with a strong attention to detail.
Experience with email and digital fundraising, organizing, and communications
Experience with targeted email, CRM, or online advocacy tools such as NGP.
Experience with content management systems such as WordPress, Squarespace, or Drupal.
Experience with Photoshop, InDesign or other desktop publishing software preferred.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Strong time management, verbal, interpersonal skills and ability to work well and remain calm under pressure.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadline

Virginia House Democrats Deputy Finance Director - BattlegroundsThe Virginia House Democratic Caucus is building out a robust Finance team that will play a key role in ensuring that we retain & expand our majority in 2025. Minimum Qualifications:

Excitement to create and maintain strong relationships with leadership, members, candidates, partners, and staff.
Detail-oriented with excellent time management, planning, and organization skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and a willingness to hold self and others accountable to goals.

Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including frequent evening and weekend work, and ability to travel statewide.
Commitment to winning and retaining a Democratic majority in the Virginia House of Delegates.
